Discover the Ultimate Solution for Instantly Nourished Chapped Skin & Lips

Dry skin and lips are common issues that many people face, especially with seasonal changes and fluctuating temperatures. Understanding the causes and solutions for these problems is essential for maintaining healthy skin.

What causes dry skin and lips?

Dry skin and lips can be caused by a variety of factors, including cold weather or intense heat, low humidity, harsh soaps, hot showers, certain inflammatory skin conditions and certain medications. When the skin loses moisture and natural oils, it can become dry, flaky, and irritated.

How to prevent dry skin and lips

To prevent dry skin and lips, it is important to keep the skin moisturised regularly with a hydrating lotion or lip balm. Avoiding long, hot showers and using gentle cleansers can also help retain moisture in the skin. Drinking plenty of water and using a humidifier in dry indoor environments can further prevent dryness.

During hot and cold weather, it is natural to lick the lips in an attempt to alleviate dyness, but this only exacerbates the condition.

What are the consequences of untreated dry skin and lips?

Untreated dry skin and lips can lead to discomfort, itching, cracking, and even infections. It is crucial to address these issues promptly to prevent further complications.

How to treat dry skin and lips

Regular moisture replenishment with non-petroleum based lip balms and repairing and protective body balms can work wonders for dry skin. But be aware of ingredients that can potentially aggravate your skin and could possibly be a cause.

Synthetic perfumes, dyes, and petrochemicals are all known irritants and can cause moisture to be drawn from the skin. Fortunately, Estime & Sens doesn't contain any synthetic ingredients, and only harnesses effective ingredients from the plant world like Shea Butter, Argan Oil and Evening Primrose Oil.

What are the benefits of using lip balm?

Lip balm helps to seal in moisture and protect the delicate skin on the lips from becoming dry and chapped. Look for lip balms with ingredients like Vitamin E, Evening Primrose Oil and Shea Butter to provide nourishment and hydration to the lips.

What are the benefits of moisturising?

Moisturises help to seal moisture into the skin, but good quality natural ingredients can nourish and support the skin's barrier function. With regular use you will notice softer, smoother and happier skin.

When to apply your lip balm

Ideally, you should apply your Moisturising Lip Nectar two to four times a day or as required. Within a day or two you will notice a marked improvement in hydration and condition.

When to apply your body moisturiser

Applying your moisturiser immediately after a bath or shower will help prevent moisture loss through dehydration and prevent the skin becoming so dry. It will also help seal in moisture and keep your skin supple and itch-free.

How to use after-sun

After-sun alleviates the dryness and tightness caused by sun exposure. Some after-sun's like our MIDI 12 actually help to repair damage to the skin with rich antioxidants from plants.* Shower in cool water and gently pat dry your skin. Apply the aftersun while skin is still mildly damp to seal in moisture.

If you are experiencing severe dryness or irritation, please consult your Estime & Sens therapist. They may recommend effective products like the Moisturising Lip Nectar or Sovereign Balm, or refer you to your GP, especially in the case of sun burn.

By understanding the causes of dry skin and lips and taking proactive steps to prevent and treat these conditions, you can improve the overall health and appearance of your skin.

* Sun exposure can cause irreparable damage to cell DNA which could manifest in skin cancers in time. Please ensure you are protected in the sun with MIDI 12 SPF 30 or 50 and avoid pinking of the skin as it is in this pre-burn stage that cellular changes occur.
